Speaking Topics Include:

  • Protect Yourself from Cybercrime: It is a sign of the times. Cyber crime is just as rampant in this new Web frontier as it was in the "Old West." You don't have to sit back and passively and be victimized though. Just as with any other neighborhood, a little bit of street smarts can go a long way. Don't be a victim. Learn to protect yourself online.
  • The Internet and Healing: For all those who claim that computers and the Internet have somehow compromised their life, friends, and family, there are still others for whom the Internet has made a world of positive differences in the quality of their life and relationships. Learn about the myriad of self-help resources out there and the many ways the Internet can enhance the quality of everyday life.
  • Successful Telecommuting: Is telecommuting still on the horizon for you? Have you always dreamed of working out of your home? While the grass isn't always greener on the other side of the fence, there can be significant differences. Learn about the many pros and cons of telecommuting and some of the basics you need to know in order to be successful in working from home.
  • Writing for the Net: Have you always dreamed of writing success? Or do you simply want to try your hand at writing in this new medium? Writing for the net has its own special set of rules and netiquette. Even the queries there are different. Learn how to master this medium and acquire the techniques needed for successful online writing and publication.

  • Break-Out and Workshop Sessions:

  • Online Research: You know that the information you need is out there somewhere, but finding it online is not always easy. Finding the professional level information you need is another story altogether. This session on Deep Web Search Skills can be geared (as needed) to online newbies or to the professionals in your field. Access to a computer room is ideal, but not necessary for this session.
  • Editing Your Own Work: So what is this magic that editors profess to practice? What are the rules? What tools do they use? We'll pull out some pencils and go to work in this hands-on workshop. BYOW - Bring Your Own Writing - Optional.
