About Magic Stream
Welcome to the Magic Stream. Among the earliest online self-help resources, Magic Stream was born in 1994. Originally conceived in a fairytale I wrote for a class, after nine months of intense research and development, this site went live in the Spring of 1995.
As a labor of love, Magic Stream has since delivered access to well over a million readers, including mental health consumers, professionals, students and other private individuals seeking information on dealing with issues in their own lives.
Magic Stream is a multi-faceted literary e-zine, mental health, self-help and wellness resource. The primary focus of Magic Stream is on personal growth and the universal in human emotion. Emotional fitness is approached in much the same way as physical fitness and very frequently in a like manner, since the two are inextricably related.
Magic Stream provides a wide spectrum of self-help information. There are numerous professional level resources and references to self-help, mental health and wellness resources. It doesn't stop there though, because so much of healing resides in the sharing of the journey. On a literary plane, readers share through poetry, art and story. On a more realistic vein, others share in the nitty-gritty of what it takes to survive in the most trying of circumstances.
The guiding philosophy of Magic Stream is to nurture ourselves both physically and mentally, making the self ever stronger, accepting our self as we are, and seeking help when it is needed.
Since its inception, Magic Stream has been an active member of the online community. As a participant in the 1996 Internet World Exposition, a Special Edition of Magic Stream (as it was then) is included in an historic Internet archive and museum, which is located in Amsterdam. You can view this archived edition online at the 1996 Internet World Expo Pavilion Edition.
Magic Stream has received numerous awards of recognition for everything from graphics, to site design, contributions to the World Wide Web community and online resource development. It has also earned international recognition as an early, pioneering resource utilizing the Internet for the common good. In 1999, Proctor & Gamble recognized the editor for her grass-roots activism in making the world a better place through her online efforts. You can read a copy of that commendation here: Always a Woman.
Despite the one-person web building aspect of the site, Magic Stream has had many esteemed contributors, including mental health professionals, beginning writers, professional writers, artists and everything in between. It is truly the interconnectedness of the web that makes it such a vital part of our life today. The same is true with Magic Stream.
As everyone knows, even labors of love cost money, and those who provide them incur the labor and expense of both providing the resource and keeping the information current. To that end, advertising and an advertising vehicle, LaFindz of the Net, have been brought in to help bear the burden of the site overhead.
If you are a regular, you will have noticed the various references to LaFindz. You can assist our initiative in supporting the ongoing research and development of this site by making us and LaFindz your home base for online shopping. I am not suggesting that you go spend money just for Magic Stream. None of us need another excuse to shop. What I am suggesting, is that when there is a need, you look here first. You will be pleasantly surprised to realize that many of the most respected retailers both online and off are now represented in affiliation with Magic Stream. There are also a few new ones as well. You can click the link below for a list.
The changes are not an end all, they are meant to help provide resources for research and development, as well as continued access to the quality resources that we all have come to expect of the net and Magic Stream.
Thank you for your continued and ongoing support.
Check back often. There is much more to come.
