Alabama
Where did Alabama get it's name from? It was named from the Alabama River that runs through the state. The river gotit's name from early French cartographers that called the Alabama river, "RIVIERE DES ALIBAMONS". The Alabama Indians were an Upper Creek tribe known to the French as early as 1702 as the "Alibamons". The name Alibamons translates as the word "thicket clearers" from Choctaw alba plants and amo to cut or gather, which was understood to be a medicinal plant. If you drive through Alabama, you will see a lot of rivers, creeks, counties, streets and towns named after indians.
...last, I have
added a page about myself with a brief description, click on About Me to get there...

I am getting loads of SPAM or JUNK EMAIL as they call it and only trying to hide from this junk email. This is an attempt to stop the automatic "harvesting" of my email address from my web site. All those junk emails are getting just too much to bear. To send email to me, use the address below:
Note: You will need to type it into your email "Send
To" window, because the email address above is a picture
file. Thanks! Hopefully
the automatic email harvesting routines will not be able to figure this
out...Yet!! Thanks for your email! |
