Hurricane Creek 48

        This is a 48 mile version of the Hurricane Creek Metric. This route starts at the Madison County High School, just off US-72 near Gurley.

The route is mostly flat-to-rolling with no long climbs. It travels on good pavement thru scenic farmland but to get there you'll have to pay attention; the route winds thru a couple of subdivisions and towns.

The New Market BBQ, open Friday thru Sunday, is a good place to eat in New Market. It's located on the west side of Winchester Road, a quarter mile north of where this route crosses Winchester Road at 26 miles.

The total elevation gain is 1,130', starting at 630' with a maximum elevation of 880'.

        Directions to start:

At the Madison County High School near Gurley. Travel East on US-72 from Huntsville. Go 6.9 miles after passing the Moores Mill Road intersection (just after descending out of Huntsville). Turn Left on Brock Road and the Madison County High School is on your left. If you reach Gurley you've gone too far.
