Some Frequently Asked Questions from Customers
|
|
1. What is included with the repair?
The
first thing I do is diagnose the unit and determine why it is not
working properly. I then clean out all the old grease and debris and
make the repair. If I have to replace the gears, I will use high
quality carbon steel gears. There is also a stub shaft that is know to
wear. If I have to replace this, it is replaced with an alloy
steel shaft that will out perform the original part. The unit is then
regreased and reassembled. I then test run the unit just to make
sure it is operating correctly.

2. Is there a warranty with the repair?
I
do warranty the repair that I make for 6 months. However, these units
are very well built and you should get several more years of use from
it. Of course, the more that it is used and less it is maintained, then
it could fail sooner.

3. Can I purchase just the gears?
Normally,
when the gears in these units fail, it is because of misaligment.
Something is worn. Unless they are brought back into the correct
alignment, then they will fail again, very soon. It is usually
best to send me the unit, let me repair it and get everything back to
the way it should be.

4. What's the best way to ship the unit?
The
best (most economical) way that I have found to ship these units is
using the USPS Priority Mail. The unit will fit in their "Medium
Flat Rate" box. Their "Top Loading" variety works the best. If
you ship using this method, be sure to pack plenty of the styrofoam
"Peanuts" in the box. Otherwise, the unit could shift and get
damaged during shipping. This is a three day service and will cost $12.65
(as of 2/2015).

5. My unit is really loud when it is running?
The
truth of the matter is that these units are noisy. However, if you
notice that it seems to be louder than normal, or it is making a
strange sound, this might be a sign that something is wrong internally.
If the unit is continued to run like this, it could cause even more
internal damage.
