BACKGROUND AND GOALS
I have been training dogs in obedience since I was about 16. I have trained a variety of breeds and temperaments. I have learned that it is far easier to train and live with a dog that has a stable temperament to begin with. For that reason, I am very picky about the temperament and structure of the dogs I breed and I show my dogs in both conformation and obedience. This link eloquently expresses the reason that training and working with my dogs means so much to me.

Lady was my first coonhound. I got Lady because my husband grew up with Black and Tan Coonhounds and loved the breed. I grew to love the coonhounds as well. Lady was in training for her Utility title but due to the fact that I had taken breaks in her training to have children, she was too old to clear the jumps by the time I was ready to show her in Utility.
I bred my first litter of coonhounds in 1981. CH Rockytop Winnie the Pooh, CD (Bear) came out of that first litter. Two of her brothers also became champions. Bear was the coonhound that took Best of Breed at the AKC Centennial Dog Show in 1984 and was featured on the cover of Dog World in 1985. She was a loved family pet as well as a successful Special. She took Best Veteran at our National Specialty in 1989 and got her CD title that same year at the age of 8. Who says you can't teach old dogs new tricks!!!
