to the History of Rockytop Black and Tans

Rockytop Black and Tan Coonhounds came into existance some time in 1980. I had purchased my first Black and Tan Coonhound, Ch. Stoneyhill's Southern Lady, CDX from Bob and Joy Koerber of Stoneyhill Kennels. My husband and I were on our way to Kingsport, Tennessee to breed Lady to Ch. Stoneyhill's Gen. Beauregard owned by Frank and Mary Richmond. In a wild effort to make my husband more interested in dog shows and dog show activities, I said to him, "Honey, I need a kennel name." Well, he suggested first one thing and then another. His suggestions were either too long, too short, too common, etc. The radio started playing the song "Rockytop" and he said, "What about Rockytop?" PERFECT! And so Rockytop kennels was born. Since there is over 20 years of history associated with this kennel, I decided that it would be a shame for all this history to be lost. So work your way through the pages if you are interested and I will attempt to give you an idea of where I started, where I have been and how I came to the philosophy that I have today.
