“The Inspector”
Barney and Mr. Case
Grace – Undeserved Favor (John 1:17 NIV, Luke 17:4, NIV)
17For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
4If he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times comes back to you and says, 'I repent,' forgive him."
Discussion
1. From Inspector Case’s perspective, was he right to recommend impeachment proceedings against Andy and Barney?
2. If someone breaks the law, then says he is sorry, the courts should forgive him, grant him grace, and let him walk, or should it be determined by how serious the law is?
3. Is Andy’s philosophy about the prisoners meeting with misfortune and not wanting to make it any more unpleasant for them naïve?
4. Do you think a Christian should ever “draw the line” when dealing with someone who is obviously using the scriptures to take advantage or are we obligated to continually show grace?
