We are very proud to announce that our friend, writer and frequent contributor to Magic Stream, Mr. Michael Holmboe Meyer, Director of IFLAC: THE INTERNATIONAL PAVE PEACE ASSOCIATION THROUGH LITERATURE AND CULTURE, in Norway, has been nominated Director of the Scandinavian Delegation to the FIRST PAVE PEACE CONGRESS, which will take place in Haifa, Israel (17-21 May, 1998). The Mayor of Haifa, Mr. Amram Mitzna, is hosting the Congress. Top personalities and activists including Nobel Peace Prize Laureates and Nobel Prize in Literature Laureates, such as Elie Wiesel, Saul Bellow, Nadine Gordimer, Vaclav Havel, V. Shimbourska, and Judy Williams, are invited to attend.

Mr. Michael Holmboe Meyer is a peace activist of long standing, and has spent five years in Israel working together with Jews and Arabs inspiringly for peace and mutual understanding.

Some of his fellow workers were survivors of the Nazi Holocaust. Most of them had families who perished in those infamous death camps, and they vividly described to him their agonizing suffering and sorrow.

He just visited some of the death camps, including Auschwitz, hoping that he may help to prevent future holocausts, and perhaps contribute to PAVING PEACE, and the building of a better world beyond war, terror and violence.

In 1995 he took the initiative of planting a memorial forest near Be`ersheba in Yatir, in honor of the Norwegian humanitarian Henrik Wergeland.

Mr. Michael Holmboe Meyer is a true humanitarian and a believer in the possibility of a global village beyond war and violence. We are proud of his activities and his achievements, and intensive work for the promotion of PAVE PEACE and its FIRST INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS, as represented in his Homepage. We wish him much success in the organization of the Scandinavian Delegation to the Congress.
