Levi L. Oliver AKA L. L. Oliver and Levin L. Oliver was born in VA, probably Fauquier County and was brought to KY in the Oliver migration that lasted from 1815 through 1823. His parents are not known to a certainty but circumstantial evidence suggests that his father was Leonard. In the 1880 Federal Census, his and his wife's parents were shown as born in Maryland. He first appeared on a tax list as 21 or over in 1827 and was married in 1829 to a Mary/Polly Oliver who was, by family tradition, a cousin. He may have been married previously as the Caldwell County Circuit Court granted a Levin L. Oliver a divorce from an adulterous wife in 1827.

Levi L. and Polly Oliver took in and raised several younger orphaned Oliver children belonging to Thomas and Patsey (Oliver) Oliver. The children were first cousins of Levi L.'s children but it is not known how. Patsey (Oliver) Oliver was a known granddaughter of old Levin Oliver. Several of these children moved to MO ca 1905.
