Copy of letter from King David Holloway to daughter, Dorothy Holloway 1/18/34

Got your letter Saturday. Glad you are well. We are both well. Sure are having some fine days now. Your Aunt May's folks are well. David went home with Sullivan Sat. to help them burn plant beds this week. Don't you know they will tear things up. Sure are having a nice time for it. Had a letter from Nell Saturday. They were all well. Everything is going just about the same. The second Baptist Church called Bro. Lane for pastor this year and he is doing some mighty good preaching. I got my letter and went in with them last week. (Princeton)

I will send you what I know about our folks. Your grandfather Satterfield's folk come from Scotland and the George's from Ireland and the Holloway's from Ireland. Just don't know just where the Bingham's came from. All I know and can find out is they came from Ohio here, but I think they came from Iowa to Ohio. Asked your Aunt May about it and she did not know for sure. Your Uncle Jabe stayed all night with us Saturday night and he did not know for sure. Your Grandfather George was named Billy. He had two brothers that went to California. Their names were Andy and Allen. Your Grandfather George had three girls and two boys. Their names were Andy and Jimmie and Fannie and Jane and Elzie. This was your grandmother's name (Elzie). She had three boys and four girls; Willie, Lee and Frank; Mollie, Maggie, and May and one that died in its infancy. I don't know for sure but think it was a girl.

My grandfather Holloway's name was Robert and Grandmother, Catherine. They had six boys and 4 girls; Helen, Mattie, and Addie and Lizzie. I think I remember they called her Sis. The boys were George Washington, Joseph Critenten, Charlie Morehead, J.H., R.C., and William. Don't know just what their middle names were but we called them Uncle Bob and Jim and Will. There were ten of us: Finis, Silas, America, Charles Morehead, Joe, Nettie, Jabe, Bobbie Catherine, King David and Oscar Tennison. Of course Bobbie's name should come before Jabe or J.W. I don't know what all of their double names are. Your grandfather Satterfield's name was John Abram.

I don't know what my grand father and grand mother Bingham's names were, but will find out from Bobbie and let you know. Jabe W., Rile and John, Rettie and Irene, but will find out from Bobbie and let you know. There was a Nire Kellie that went to Oregan way back in covered wagon days and drove cows, but think she was my mother's Aunt. Also there was a Silas Bingham down in Union County at Morganfield, I think he was your grandmother's nephew. Don't know what his father's name was. He used to come to our house. Just can recollect him. I will try to find out something more of him as Mr. Willett was acquainted with them and said they were mighty wealthy, so that looks good. Ha! Ha! Write soon. Take care of yourself.

K.D.H.

P.S. Your grandmother Satterfield was raised down at White Sulpher just six miles from here. I went with Sullivan last spring down to Crider to look at a mule and we passed right by the old George place, or through it, as it lays on both sides of the road. Did not see the old houses as they have been torn away and new ones built. There is a Charley George lives close to us. He is your mother's cousin. See him most every day.
