Memorable Guest Characters

Sgt. Duncan "Buck" Frobisher
Approximately 6', with gray hair. In his late fifties, early sixties. Buck is played by veteran Canadian actor Leslie Nielsen. Frobisher has been with the RCMP probably longer than Fraser has been alive, and was one of Bob Fraser's closest friends. He came to the States once, fleeing an escaped felon who wished to kill him. Fraser helped saved him. He later helped Fraser and Ray saved a trainload of unconscious Mounties from a terrorist. He will reappear in the final episode of the series "Call of the Wild." (1st-3rd seasons)

State's Attorney Louise St. Laurent
Approximately 5'6", red shoulder-length hair. Late thirties or so. Louise was portrayed by Lee Purcell. Strong-willed and highly-competent, she was Ray's courtroom adversary. Despite the fact that she seemed to despise Ray, the detective courted her until they finally had a date. Nothing appeared to have occurred (or 'clicked') as the last time we saw them, they were just friends. (2nd season)

Ian MacDonald
Approximately 5'10", brown hair and eyes. Late twenties. Portrayed by Canadian actor Rino Romano, the smooth-talking Ian is a huge thorn in Ray's side. A compulsive liar, his wild tales have resulted in the incineration of Ray's beloved Riviera as well as Fraser's and Ray's incarceration by the U.S. military! (1st-2nd seasons)

Victoria Metcalf
Was played by Melina Kanakaredes. Victoria Metcalf was, at one point, the only woman whom Fraser ever loved. She was the getaway driver for a botched bank robbery in which two men died. She fled into the Yukon wilderness where a young Mountie named Benton Fraser tracked her down. They both nearly lost their lives in the process, and a love sprung from that bond, yet in the end his adherence to the law won out and he turned her over to the authorities. She got a lenient sentence for her participation in the crime -- eight years as she turned in evidence. However, upon being released from prison, she sought revenge against Fraser. She burned down his father's cabin, shot Dief, tried to frame Ray for passing stolen money, and framed Fraser for murder. She escaped and is still at large. (1st season - Victoria's Secret)

Commander Sherry O'Neill
Approximately 5'6", blonde shoulder-length hair. Late thirties or so. O'Neill was played by Sherry Miller. She's a strong commander (and Welsh seems to have a crush of sorts on her). She doesn't like Ray all that much. (2nd season)

Dr. Esther Pearson
Approximately 5'8", blonde hair. Pearson is portrayed by actress Deborah Rennard. Dr. Pearson seemed to have eyes for Fraser at one point, but also seemed to have dated Welsh as well. As a side note, Deborah Renard also co-wrote an episode and is now Paul Haggis's wife. (1st season)

Ray's Father
Was played by David Calderisi. This man was, in Ray's own estimation, a "lousy father." He died in 1989 and has come back a ghost, more often than not to continue the derision of his son. (1st-2nd seasons)

Angie Vecchio
Approximately 5'6", brown shoulder length hair, early-to-mid thirties. Angie was portrayed by actress Katayoun Amini. We have no idea why she and Ray divorced, but she apparently still lives in Chicago as Ray has run across her in two episodes ("One Good Man," "The Duel"). As a side note, Katayoun is the real-life wife of David Marciano (Ray Vechcio). (2nd season)
