Francesca Vecchio

Character Sketch

 Francesca Vecchio

AGE:
Late 20's, early 30's. (Francesca mentions in "Vault" that she has been doing favors for Ray for 30 years.)

HEIGHT:
5'6" (approx.)

WEIGHT:
Unknown

HAIR:
Brown

EYES:
Brown

YEARS ON FORCE:
She recently took over Elaine Besbriss' job as Civilian Aid at the 27th District. She is proving proficient, albeit slowly, at her job.

PERSONAL PROFILE:
Francesca is Ray Vecchio's younger sister. She's a true Vecchio, possessing the same kind of loud Italian personality as her brother.

She's had her eyes on Fraser ever since Ray dragged him home for dinner in the Pilot movie. She has questionable taste in clothing (usually loud, short skirts, bright colors), which has even transcended into her new job as Civilian Aid at the police station.

Frannie (as Ray calls her) is not afraid to pursue her dreams and doesn't want to end up old and alone. At one point she realized Fraser may be out of her reach and has seen started acting more sensibly around him - at least in the episode Heaven & Earth. However, in third season she seems to have 'fallen off the wagon' and is again pursuing Fraser, although not as ardently as in The Deal.

She quite often lacks common sense. She has agitated bank robbers (Vault) and could have suffered serious consequences had Fraser's plan not gone into action. She also didn't bother to check about vendor's permits when selling food in the police station, so she was summarily arrested. Ray let her stew for a while before springing her from the handcuffs.

She is known as either Francesca or, more commonly, Frannie (which is what Ray calls her).

FAMILY:
She has an older brother, Ray. She also has another brother (name unknown) who is believed to be older than Ray, and her sister Maria (married to Tony). Her mother is still alive, but her father is dead.

LOVE LIFE:
She was once married (Pilot) but is now divorced (or the marriage was annulled; this has never been clarified). After meeting Fraser, the Mountie appears to be the only man after whom she lusts. She has even gone so far as to arrive, clad in scanty lingerie, univited at his apartment in the middle of the night. However, nothing of a sexual nature occurred (confirmed by one of the former Executive Producers).

Although Stan seemed attracted to her, she rebuffed his attentions quite quickly. She very briefly dated Guy Rankin, a local neighborhood fellow, who got rough with her and in turn, Ray got rough with him. Rankin later ended up dead and walled up in a precinct wall, but Ray was innocent of the crime, despite initial evidence. (Dead Guy Running)

FRIENDS:
We haven't really seen any evidence of friends, but she probably has a bunch. Who else will she gossip to Fraser about??

RELIGION:
Catholic. She has been seen going to confession to confess to sins that she has not yet committed (The Deal), but this her beliefs do not seem to stop her from entertaining thoughts of those nature.

HOME:
She lives at home with Ray, her mother, sister Maria, brother-in-law Tony, and their three children. Whether or not she pays rent seems debatable.

INJURIES:
None.

ATTIRE:
Frannie has always dressed to the extremes. Before gaining employment at the police station, it was not uncommon to see her in short, tight outfits, sometimes loudly colored. Even her underwear is loud (as in the red bustier she revealed at the bank in Vault) and her choice of custom leather lingerie (The Deal).

MISCELLANEOUS:

  • Appears to have little respect for authority, even for her own boss. She wears tight shirts, short skirts, and got a capuccino machine for the police station despite Welsh warning her against such an idea. (See a number of third season episodes for transgressions.)
  • Is left-handed. (Perfect Strangers)
  • She can debone a chicken in three minutes. (Dead Guy Running)
  • Wears glasses for reading. (Perfect Strangers)
