Sandbox
This
is the first project I ever built based on plans drawn up by someone else.
The Boyz needed a sandbox, and I couldn't find anything store-bought that was
elevated to let the sand dry once it got wet. I remembered watching Norm
Abram build what I was looking for on the New
Yankee Workshop, and purchased the measured drawing for ten bucks.
The sides, standards, and roof structure are all made of red cedar, while the
decking and feet are made of pressure treated yellow pine. The only thing
the drawing did not cover was the way he attached the cover to the roof with
only staples & hot glue. My mom was kind enough to sew the gable ends
onto the center piece for me, which I think is a cleaner-looking way to do it
anyway.
