Home Made Tools

This is the chip collector I use when running the planer or jointer.  The beauty of it is that I had no real out of pocket expenses to build it.  The blower came from someone's ditch in one neighborhood, while the bag and rigid black pipe came from a ditch in another neighborhood.  The flexible hose was a Christmas gift.

A nice dust collection system is really a must for health reasons, but the setup I would really like to have is really expensive.  I kept putting off doing something until I planed a 100 board feet or so of aromatic cedar for a past project.  It messed up my sinuses for weeks.  This assemblage of parts does exactly what is needed - It removes the chips from the machine in use, bags the chips, and does a very good job of filtering the air even though it is located outside (when being used).

I built this paint booth and drying rack to handle all the doors necessary for the last kitchen remodeling project.  For spraying latex paint, it couldn't be beat.
