Day 32

The brick is in, or at least most of it.  The builder tells me it was the first thing ordered and that a reasonable amount of excess had been projected.  Then came boo-boos 1 & 2, each of which will necessitate re-bricking an existing house wall.

As most of listening audience knows, construction is not all fun & games.  Here is Little Tub after the Boyz wrapped up their brick inspection:

Appropriately, a Big Tub project will require a big pile of sand.  With all the “big” aspects we’ve had, you’d think we live in Texas

With the framing and air conditioning rough-in done, Kim & I took the opportunity to clean up the place:

The Boyz can get some serious speed up while racing the length of Project Big Tub.

Carlos & Gil of DeColores Painting stopped by over the weekend to prime the exterior.  Using a spray gun instead of a brush or roller, they were only here two or three hours.

No more “busy” looking finger-jointed boards on Big Tub now:

Here’s an exterior shot of Big Door.  The temporary steps, when placed, lined up with the left edge of the original door.

In lieu of buying a new door for the project, I had the framers move the den’s existing door over to the new construction.

Where’s Waldo?

There he is!

Seeing as how the masons’ mixer & scaffolding is still on site from the chimney work, there is a strong possibility of the exterior brick being laid in the next few days.  Plumbing rough-in is necessary before the sheetrock is hung, but the plumbers are probably waiting for Big Tub itself to be delivered.

Don’t blink – Project Big Tub appears to be in the fast lane for completion!
