Our
trip to Cloudland Canyon State Park in Georgia combined a myriad of firsts. This was the first organized Rally of any sort
attended with our Airstream, the first time we had ever camped with my cousin
Susan & her family (one of the my Overlander’s original campers), the first
time Susan had seen the Overlander since the refurb, and the first time I had
met several people I have “talked” with via Airstreamforums.com. Everyone had a great time.
All told,
around 15 other Airstream trailer, and motor home enthusiasts were able to make
it including one man from my hometown. I believe the furthest distance
traveled was by a man who came in from Texas. The award for the
potentially most arduous journey went to Ron Kaes, an “Overlanderer” about Kim's
age who drove up from Middleton Georgia with four of his six kids (ages 5-10). His wife already had a scrapbooking event
planned in South Georgia, and could not attend. The “Oops” award went to
one man in a new-to-him motorhome who did not verify that his black tank valve
would open before he left home. So he left with more than just
pleasant memories of the trip.
My
wife & Susan’s husband were happy campers when we found that being on the
top of a mountain provided excellent television reception for the Alabama-Tennessee
game. The younger cousins appeared to enjoy each others' company, and playing
in the tan truck.
Let’s
Rally!
