As a member of this class your preparation for the workshops, your attitude toward the other students and your involvement in the group tasks effects the experience of your classmates. This course formally grades participation as a percentage of the final grade. As a nursing student you are being pushed to be actively involved in gathering and using nursing knowledge. Your clients' wellbeing depends on your being able to remember both main ideas and details, being able to express yourself clearly and logically being on time in completing tasks, and following instructions to the letter. For that reason test scores, written language use, due dates and following instructions play a significant part in the grading. Learning to routinely evaluate one's own performance and ones' situation is an essential part of professional socialization.

This course has been structured in ways to involve you in independent and cooperative learning. Since every student learns differently, some of the methods used will have been user-friendlier for you than others. Realizing that out-of –class assignments and on-line aspects are becoming more common in educational offerings, exercises to induce digital literacy have been an important part of this first nursing course.
