The Shakti P. Duggal Award

Shakti Duggal came to Bartol from India as a post-doctoral Fellow in 1960. He stayed as a faculty member and became well-known and respected for his research in solar-terrestrial physics and also for his fine character and warm personality. After his death in 1982 at the age of 50, his colleagues and friends established the Shakti P. Duggal Award in his memory. This international award is to recognize outstanding research by a young scientist anywhere in the world in any area of cosmic ray physics. Shakti's friend and mentor Martin Pomerantz presented the first award to Raymond Protheroe at LaJolla in 1985
