The "Ettore Majorana" Centre for Scientific Culture

The Ettore Majorana Center for Scientific Culture was formed from the pioneering vision of Antonino Zichichi . Modern science is so global that no one university or even a large nation can house the finest scientific minds. Even students who are fortunate enough to be at the finest university in any country will not meet most of the world's great scientists. For students at smaller universities their entire exposure to a subject may be from one facility member. The purpose of the Ettore Majorana Centre is to provide a forum where the young scientists of the world can not only meet the Giants of their field, but they can also listen to their lectures and question them both after lectures and in informal meal or coffee break gatherings. The value to the young students is beyond measure but their stimulating questions and the energy and inquisitiveness of youth provide equally valuable stimulus to the great scientists.
The Center for scientific culture is housed in the beautiful and romantic Sicilian town of Erice. Erice lies atop a beautiful plateau that rises for 751 m from the planes of western Sicily to give spectacular views over the Tyrrhenian sea. Its great strategic importance dates beyond recorded history. For the modern visitor the mix of architectural endeavors of the ages that dates from the Trogan's of the seventh century before Christ mix with outstanding panoramic views. To whet your visual cortex here are some pictures but to fully appreciate Erice you must visit.
