HEROINES
Ah, yes; what would our heroes have been had they not had a beautiful girl to rescue from the nasty villains! Generally, the good looking gal had just inherited a ranch, or a stage coach line, or a gold mine, or a silver mine, etc. from her Dad, Granddad, Uncle, etc. and the villain(s) were trying to steal it away from her. And then along comes our hero to rescue the damsel in distress!
There were many heroines and I can just barely remember some of them but some were almost as big a star as the star was!

1. Dorothy Page; 2. Evelyn Finley; 3. Lynne Roberts; 4. Pauline Moore;
5. Sheila Ryan; 6. Penny Edwards; and 7. Peggy Stewart.
And now, the more famous or recognizable:
1. Is there anyone who does not recognize Dale Evans? Beside co-starring with Roy Rogers, she was also his wife, and some may not know that before she entered the movies, she was a singer with some of the big bands of the 40s. In fact, she was hired by the movie people for her singing ability. 2. Gail Davis - Gail was best known for her many appearances in the Gene Autry movies. 3. Jennifer Holt - Jennifer played the heroine in many a western movie and even played an outlaw in at least one movie. Jennifer had good credentials because she was the daughter of the legendary Jack Holt, and the brother of Tim Holt. 4. June Storey - June also played in many movies, both with Roy Rogers and Gene Autry. 5. And then there was the songbird, Mary Lee - Mary was still a young girl when she starred in her Western movies, first with Gene Autry, and then with Roy Rogers. She was usually the young sister of the female co-star, whomever that happened to be.
