Greetings from your host, Shawn E. Donahoo, composer-pianist, independent recording artist, music synthesist (and occasional graphic artist and poet-philosopher). Contained within these pages you'll find the following areas related to my WATER CIRCLE music CD:

Be sure to check out these other areas of interest which include:

The
Illustrated Poetry area showcases some
selections from
"Poems and Meditations"
(my booklet of collected original musings), as well as some original
graphic artwork which hasn't found its way into print just yet...
Being a relatively new site, all sections are subject to refinement, so all you kindred spirits out there will want to return from time to time to partake of the additional "goodies for the soul" which will appear. You can also find two of my poems at Interlude, which is a really cool place to visit if you like these sorts of things.
More soundclips will hopefully be available here soon. Be sure to return if you wish to hear more of WATER CIRCLE.
At a very early age, Shawn displayed an interest in music and has studied piano since age seven. It was during the emotional turbulence of his adolescent years of high school that he began writing music (for solo piano) and poetry, and his love of Nature and its symbolism first flourished.
Having a natural affinity for math and computers, he began his collegiate career in Engineering at Auburn University, but chose to pursue a life of music a few years later. His formal music education began at Berklee College of Music (Boston). Through his studies there, culminating in a degree in Music Synthesis, he was able to work with the latest hardware and software commercially available in music technology to expand his compositional field of endeavor in music.
It was also at Berklee that he first discovered the concepts of symbolism in Jungian Psychology which opened new vistas of self-exploration and creativity. This was a connection which resonated his affinity for the abstract and accelerated his writing ability. He has been independently researching related subjects (symbolism and the evolution of consciousness--what Jung called "individuation" ) with great interest ever since.
After completing his Master's Degree in Music Composition from the University of Alabama (Tuscaloosa) where he taught Music Theory and Music Synthesis, he has returned to his hometown (Decatur, Alabama) to pursue his compositional interests in electronic music and his original, solo piano sketches.
Take a healing journey through time, from the ancient past to the near future through these mysteriously haunting instrumental compositions.
Water (as well as the chalice imagery) has long been considered (in esoteric circles, anyway) as a primary symbol of the emotional nature of Man. It is my clear intent that this album resonantly taps that emotional well. Here is a listing of the titles of each track (click one highlighted names to download an excerpt from it):
Ancient
Ritual
Sirens Song
Dance
of the Mermaids
Bayside Ballad
Walden Pond
Night River Reflections
New Growth
Choreographic
