Original carved from oak (dimensions: 2.5 x 3 x .25 inches) -- The Green Man is one of the most frequently recurring and beautiful motifs of medieval art. Known as God of the Woodlands, he represents the spirit of the trees and the green growing things of the earth. Common among the carved decoration of Europe's oldest churches and cathedrals; when used in decoration, he is often referred to as the foliate mask. The foliage that surrounds him is most frequently oak, the sacred tree of Britain.
All products of Dryad Design are original designs carved by Paul Borda. His castings are made from durable hydrostone gypsum cement and every piece comes with a description card. Each piece is made and finished by hand in Massachusetts, variations in coloring make every item unique.
