The Beetle has new shoes! Tires were mounted on the freshly painted wheels and are now on the car complete with new hubcaps.

The rear panels, seat, and belts are installed along with the retractable front belts. The SEM vinyl paint is a perfect match for Gala Red and made the faded seat covers look new.

The front seats have been disassembled so the frames and covers can be painted. Dash assembly and wiring is finished, the battery is in the car and a brief smoke test was conducted. No smoke escaped from the wiring so a full test and engine start should be soon.

I've decided to go ahead and assemble the doors. The paint shop will have to exercise a little more care while masking the windows but I'm sure they are up to the task. The plan now is to have the car basically finished when it is driven to the paint shop. Only the exterior trim parts will have to be installed when the car is painted.

Then it will be time to call Walter!
