Well......you recall how neat and finished the front compartment looked a couple of days ago?

Sometimes a restoration project is a sequence of "one step forward and three steps back". I decided the only way to make the dash look the way it should was to remove the dash pad for either refurbishing or replacement. That meant a lot of stuff had to be disconnected so the pad could come out of the car.

The pad has been removed for an attempt at refurbishing. I want to retain the original pad if possible since the aftermarket units have a somewhat spotty reputation.

There is a similar situation with the headliner. Installing a new headliner is very challenging and it never looks exactly original. Special vinyl paint has been purchased and hopefully we will end up with a fresh looking, original liner.

While the interior is apart, the door jambs will be painted, and the doors will be removed and taken apart so the metal can be painted.

All the interior panels and glass have been removed. A highly-regarded local body shop provided a reasonable quote for shooting paint on the exterior of the car. I will do all the body work and deliver the car to them ready for their paint booth.

Carpet has been ordered and the interior could come together in the next two or three weeks if all goes according to plan.
