IT IS Y0UR GUIDANCE THAT NEEDED MOST

itisyourguidancethatneededmost (164k image)
These children are just waiting for guidance and a chance to be helped on shaping their life. The day to day that they are having are far from being optimum and infact it will be very hard for them to be able to compete in the modern society. Formal education that is available and that they can afford is too low in its quality and most of the time the teachers has never been improved since they were graduated from their school. The sad part is even worst that the teacher are placed in the remote area ( may be in the jungle side) . They will be deemed as a knowledgeable person but in fact their knowledge are just too back wards and well out dated. It is the problem for many area for having an out dated teachers. What can be expected from the students if their teachers are not god enough or not in the position to teach ? The grip of the poverty will be veryhard to be broken if the people are not improving them selves with better education.
I hope that our plan to build a reasonable school can be materialized soon enough , so that we can gradually giving a good influence to the nearby community. I hope also that there will be enough people who are willing to dedicate them selves to do their best to break the poverty chain through their teaching deeds. At our orphanage we have been trying our best to teach the little one about educational games such as math. It can be simple one , two and three in the beginning but it can be developed into a practical mathematical matter. For example we we trying to make them to visualized a portion of drinks or food , deviding a plate of meal into three portion etc. From a simple thing we can make them to understand how to share things equally . The chance to educate them is only depending on the "day light" where the night time is usually too difficult for the villagers to study. The night time usually is used by the parents to tell their children some educational stories or sharing experiences ( how to do things, how to handle their animals, how to do some farming matters etc). For those parfents who are too tired already from working hard during the day, there isn't anyting to tell to their children and the darkness is used for them to sleep.storytellingtotheyoungerone1234 (65k image)

GOOD MORNING TO ALL

goodmorning (102k image)
Good morning to All, it is a weekend day today. No schooling for the school children and it is a good time to play together for all the orphans. Usually we are running around and taking turns on singing songs that has been taught in school. The little one are enjoying the dancing part as they do not know the songs just yet. It is the time to do something for the garden and clean up for the orphans.
It is the hardest time at the moment in Timor as the dry season is at its peak. If you read the news paper we will be able to know that there are a big numbers of death on Timor's children, Every year from August to the begining of November has been the period wherre this case are taking place. The highest mortality is now. The soil is so dry and people are forced to live with " just whatever water that they can get ". In many places there isn't a luxury of being able to wash their hands and feets before eating their meals or before going to bed. Their uncleaned sweat can enhance the growth of bactery which can create skin diseases or at least unpleasant smell. I wish that one day I can do a water project for some of the places which really in great needs of water. It is hard for the orphanage to find food ( hay) for the cows and deer that we have .The orphanage has been a lucky place for the orphans as we are able to buy water all year around , which coming in water trucks. It is a privilege for us to be able to have an excess for a clean water source ( or at least a decent one ) . The dryness creates an increase in electricity demand, for some of the city people who can afford to have airconditioning, they will keep on using the airconditioning machine or at least a fan to cool the air in tyheir houses. Due to this high electricity demand, the orphanage is quite often having a black out . It can be during the day time or at any time. The worst is when our orphans are having their dinner. It can be a chaotic if the black out is too long. Lucky that our standby generator has been fixed so we can get some lightings within 15 to 20 minutes time from it. In the past we are having a big generator which the voltage was not so stable. During the black out period all of the electrical equipments were damaged because of the big fluctuation on its voltage. One time a brought a computer all the way from Singapore ( a desk top), and because of the instability of the voltage, the computer was only lasting for less than 10 minutes ( after all the effort on bringing the computer, install it and fixing all the equipments and only burnt out because of this voltage fluctuation. I was so sad at that time ). In fact that computer is still in the storage room and we are having difficulties of finding the spare parts as that model has been out of model for quite some times now ha ha ha . Any one who wants to participate with A CLEAN WATER PROJECT in Timor Island ( next year) please let me know. With more friends working together we will be able to get closer to the reality or goals.

THANK YOU TO THE GREAT KIWANIS AND FRIENDS

yourlovegift (149k image)
We have made the visit to "Bayat" vilage from October 1st tothe 3rd, which is some 30 km east of Jogja city and 8 km south of Klaten city. We made the cementS distribution for the earth quake effected area as planned. So much of physical work but with propper coordinations things can be done nicely ( Praise The Lord ). We were given special price of about 5,5% less as we bought it for the earth quake victims. The amount of cements being given was decided by the head of the village and some respected persons within their community so that every one will be having no objection for whatever being given to them. I have nothing to say but I am making sure that the distribution can be done nicely. We bought 2200 bags of cements and on top of that we were able to give away some basic needs for the villagers such as rice ,cooking oil, sugar, detergent, instant noodle and eggs. My wife and I together with the local people were making it into smaller packaging in two days ( we were doing it till as late as 3 Am for it).People came very orderly and one by one giving us back the invitation coupons that we made for them. On each coupons were writen how many bags of cements that they are going to receive, so there wasn't any argument at all. Some who came with bicycle must bring the cements 2 bags on each trip as the bicycle was only able to carry 2 bags in one go. All other means were used and they use them in turns if they do not have it by them selves. For people who are rather far away to transpot the cements to their houses , I let them to use my pick up to their locations ( few families at one go ). Untill now there isn't any help coming to this area and that is why I am choosing to help them instead of "Bantul" city which getting all the publicities and help being poured in too. Indeed Bantul was the hardest hitted area as some 80% of the building were collapsed ( while the remaining 20% are actualy also not suitable to be used more). Our thanks to "The Kiwanis " for extending their help to them. Kiwanis is a group of people who help the chldren of the world ,a world wide organization. With Kiwanis also the orphanage is going to build a kindergarten soon. Our thanks also to captain Jeff Ang,captain Jimmy Tampubolon, captain Philip Tan and Mr Max Chia for their participation on helping the people who are suffering from the recent earth quake. Surely the world is a better place with them around.
