GOING TO SCHOOL

Michaelandprittyofftoschool (65k image)
The school day is finally coming for Michael and Pritty . They have been attending the school from July 17th 2006 . It is great to see them progressing and growing up. The other 5 children were so enviously watching Michael and Pritty going to school every morning , they kind of can not wait to be starting their schooling too. Next year 5 more children at the orphanage will be enrolling primary school too. It will be a new environments and new experiences for them . It was great that we have been teaching them about togetherness so that the schooling will enhance them to develope even farther. A canadian friend ( Nicholas) was staying at the orphanage since July 14th and he was given a duty to drive Michael and Pritty to school every day. he said that he was enjoying his part being a temporary driver for the orphanage ( without pay ). He was also spending his time playing with the children everyday.

OUR BABY ORPHANS WILL BE STARTING THEIR SCHOOLING DAYS

michaelandpretty1 (26k image)
Pretty and Michael went to have their medical check up yesterday. It is part of the requirement before they are attending their school. It may be a new rule because I didn't know this procedure untill now. I can still remember when they came to us as 6 and 4 months old baby . They are 5 yeas plus now and they said that they can not wait their scholing days any longer. At the orphanage we often give them papers to draw or making any scratch on it . Pretty seems to be keen and asking a lot for her interests. Both of them were from an orphanage at the mountain side and were very mall nuorished , It seemed that they were only skeleton covered by their skin. Especially for Michael his head was full of wounds and was so smelly . Flies were flocking on his head (not too much different with Pretty too). Anyway I will personally drive them to school next month . It will be a big change to see them in their school uniform. It will be a big encouragemenet for their younger orphan brothers and sisters. It will be different duty and challange for us to give color for their up bringing. It feels that it wasn't so long ago that my daughter Christine can carry them both at the same time but now they have grown bigger. The rest of the orphans are also growing and by next year we will enroll 5 of them into their schooling too.

OUR NEWEST CHILD

Yehuda (72k image)
As I have written on the previous entry that we are having a new member earlier this month. His name is Yehuda. He is almost 15 months now.He was only 6 KG when Peggy brought him from Biak Island ( West Papua) when she visited her parents .It was so sad when Peggy brought him to the hospital and found out that the wasn't any blood came oou from him when the doctor wanted to check his condition. Only after 3 days on a constant drips the doctor was finally able to get some blood sample from Yehuda. After the doctor told us that he is progressing well , Peggy brought him to our home in Jakarta for a day then flew off to Timor on the next day. Yehuda is ok now and staying with us at the orphanage. The only sad thing that we can not change is his blindness ( the doctor told us that they can not do anything with his eyes ). peggy and I have committed to learn about how to look after a blind child but any of you who are having the expertise about it , please share it with us. Anyway the orphanage is enjoying the cool weather till the end of August as it is being influenced by the Australian winter. Our morning in August will be around 18 degrees Celcius and the afternoon is around 25 to 28 degrees but with a very low humidity. So far we have confirmed that some friends will be with us over there duringf our August trip to the orphanage . At least 16 friends from Singapore and may be some more from Europe as well . JUst can not wait our own babequed of fish at the orphanage. We will be asking our friends to distribute some of the clothing that they have been helping us on collecting them as well as our usual activities on giving food , vitamins and wound treatment to the little 5 years old and below. It will be great with friends doing it together with us. A new airlines ( Trigana Airlines) has started to serve Kupang as their new destination. A pilot) friend ( Sastra) who is flying for that airlines has visited our orphanage during his long transit . The orphanage is only about 10 minutes from the airport. It was great when he came with his co pilot and stewardesses and seeing them playing with the children at the orphanage.
