| Lesson 1: The ROSE: |
The following pictures are a step by step process for creating a rose
with
icing. I always add cornstarch to decorator's icing to make the
rose stand up
pretty. This particular rose was made with Wilton tip
#124 and a large rose
nail.

Start with making a base for the rose. |
Continue building the base
for height. The small end of the tip should be at the top. |

The very
center of the rose should be closed to make a point.

After the center is formed continue by making three petals around the
center. Hold the bag at an angle to flare the petals out. |
Continue with five petals around.

| Finish the
rose by going around the entire base of the rose with one motion. Remove the rose
from the nail by using a small spatula and place directly on the cake or use a small
square of wax paper against the nail if you wish to refrigerate for later use. |
