First National Confederate Flag

Made by the ladies of Fayetteville, TN. for the soldiers of the 8th Regiment.

This flag was pulled from under the dead color guard at the
Battle of Murfreesboro by a soldier of the 21st Ohio.  The 8th
lost 68.5% of their men that day in about an hour, yet they broke
5 Union lines of battle, captured six Napoleon cannon and several
hundred Yankee troops as well as ruining the U.S. Regulars for the
rest of the war.
