First National Confederate Flag |
Made by the ladies of Fayetteville, TN. for the soldiers of the 8th
Regiment. |
This
flag was pulled from under the dead color guard at the
Battle of Murfreesboro by a soldier
of the 21st Ohio. The 8th
lost 68.5% of their men that day in about an hour, yet
they broke
5 Union lines of battle, captured six Napoleon cannon and several
hundred
Yankee troops as well as ruining the U.S. Regulars for the
rest of the war. |
