I earned my degrees (BEE, MSEE) studying controls engineering and digital image analysis in Auburn University's Electrical Engineering Dept.
Professor Thomas S. Denney tried to keep me from wasting too much time.
My wife, Lisa Hammett (nee Hunter), besides being one of the most wonderful, intelligent, beautiful, and understanding people I have ever met, also frequently reads this page. She studied something to do with DNA in the Department of Botany and Microbiology at Auburn, also earning BS and MS degrees. She now teaches biology at a community college, and works part time at the state forensics lab.
I served for two years as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons) in Finland. Ed Rogers is the keeper of the mission's unofficial home page. I served in Turku, Kajaani, Lahti, Helsinki, and Tampere from 1990-1992.
I returned to Finland in 1994 to work as an engineering intern in beautiful Kajaani. I worked at Kainuun Sähkö for that summer. At the end of the summer, I proposed to my wife on the shores of Inari Lake in the distant north of Lapland.
I still have friends in Kajaani, and try to visit often. Kajaani is the capital of the Kainuu region.
