Here's a photo of an under-couch remote control organizer I built after I received my router (a Bosch 1617 EVSPK) and bit set (Freud 1/2" shank set) as a birthday gift a few years ago.

I wanted to try something that used rabbet and dado joints. I built the organizer from cheap basswood, and finished it with some water-based poly I had on hand. The basswood is very light, and the poly made the bottom of the organizer very smooth, so there's no undue wear on the section of carpet over which we slide the organizer back and forth several times a day.

I don't have any elaborate plans for this project. I just sized it to fit the remotes I had, and to hold an issue of TV guide. As luck would have it, TV Guide later mutated into a larger-format magazine that contains very few listings, so I no longer use that section for its original purpose.
