The Dayton BR-1 speakers are sold as a kit by Parts Express, a company that sells electronics parts and speaker-building supplies. I built this pair in December, 2002 to use in a rec room system. They're pretty decent little speakers, particularly for the price ($140/pair for the kits).

The Parts Express BR-1 product page contains full details about the kit, but here are some details.

Each speaker is 14-1/4" high by 8-5/8" wide by 11" deep and weighs approximately 16 lbs. Each speaker contains a 6-1/2" woofer and a 1-1/8" silk dome tweeter. Rated frequency response is 43-18,000 Hz, and efficiency is 85 dB.

The speakers are rear-ported, so it wouldn't be a good idea to put their backs right against a wall (on a bookcase, for example). You'd want to move them out from wall at least a few inches. They are not magnetically shielded, so you wouldn't want to put them right beside a TV (a CRT) either.

If you buy the speakers, I'll throw in a pair of home-made stands for no additional cost. Each stand is 25-1/2" high and has a 10" by 11-5/8" base plate and a 4" wide by 5-1/2" deep center column. They're not beautiful, but they're better than nothing, and they do position the speakers at an appropriate listening height (tweeters near ear level).

To read what other people say about the BR-1s, read some of these posts from an online audio forum called The Audio Asylum.

Here are some photos of the speakers and stands.
