BYLAWS
for the ROCKET CITY BEARS of NORTH ALABAMA
The name of this organization shall be the Rocket City Bears, hereafter referred to as the “Club”.
The
Club is a social organization created to bring together people who are bears,
bear friends, or bear admirers for friendship, fellowship, and shared common
interests. Its purpose is to
sponsor and promote social and recreational activities for its members.
Membership
in the club is open to adults 21 years of age or older.
Club events shall be planned and
organized by a group of elected members known as the Planning Committee.
This committee shall consist of three members of the club elected by
secret ballot for a term of one year. Nominations
may be submitted to the current Planning Committee from March 1 until May 15 of
each year. Nominees must agree to
have their names placed on the election ballot.
Election of the planning committee will occur at the club’s June
meeting. The three candidates receiving the most votes will then become the new
Planning Committee. In case of a
tie, candidates will be given the opportunity to concede.
If a tie still remains, the winners shall be determined by chance, e.g.,
coin toss, drawing straws, etc.
CHANGES TO BYLAWS
These bylaws
may be changed (amended or repealed) at any time at a regular or called meeting
of the Club. Proposed changes shall
be presented in writing at a regular meeting.
The proposed changes will be published in a newsletter, via email or by
special mail at least ten days prior to the next regular meeting, when the vote
is to be taken. A majority vote of
the members present at the meeting is sufficient to approve changes, amendments
or repeal.
