Tide basher. If you are a student at Georgia, you should know about 3 or 4 losses a year. You guys usually have that that after 6 games. You might want to get your own house in order before you waltz into Tideland and start telling us how to do things. Also, you call me a redneck again, and I'll have to put my football team on your football team, and you know how ugly that usually gets for your guys. UGA, hell! How about a little Roll Tide?!?!?

Hey Tide fans, You better watch what you wish for. All you rednecks want this wide open offense. I'll tell you this, all you're going to end up with is a bunch of turnovers and three or for losses. Gene Stallings was one of the best coaches around and you ran him off . I bet Bear Bryant is turning over in his grave. By the way, how big is Bama's D?

I am originally from Livingston, AL and moved to San Antonio, TX 3 years ago. It's difficult to get any news on the Tide so I search and find good informative web sites like yours on the Internet. I have been a huge BAMA fan for a long time and follow the Crimson Tide in every sport, esp. football. Keep up the good work on the site and please work on spelling esp. on the 1997 Verbals section. Overall, a pretty good recruiting class for '97; however, I am concerned as most BAMA fans are about QB's. Ten years ago BAMA couldn't sign DL now it looks like the other schools particularly Awbun are locking us out in the battle for QB's. I hope that BAMA can sign some good JC QB prospects in California or Texas for that matter. OL prospects are of great concern as well. Hopefully we can sign a couple of OL and a QB if it's not too late. Whatever happened to nationwide recruiting for QB's? Remember, Joe Namath and Steve Sloan were not from Alabama and they turned out quite well. I think the Bolles High School re cruits particularly Travis Carroll and Sam Matthews have to be considered excellent for playing time at critical depth positions. Excellent site... I cruise it every night since I discovered it 2.5 weeks ago. Excellent source for BAMA football recruiting prospects. ROLL TIDE ROLL! 4-EVER!!

You requested recruits for 1998 and I know that you have Tylor Watts. I don't know if you have Dedrick Hardick DB from Stevenson, AL. He was reted #4. on one list of top 25 Jr's. Also Watts was rated #15. As for the incoming recruit to have the most impact I pick Travis Carroll. We have some great loses at linebacker and Travis appears to be ready to play soon. Keep on ROLLING, LAJohnny

Ozark, AL USA - Saturday, February 01, 1997 at 16:04:38 (CST)
Bama D.! Great website. I think the player with the best impact next year will be Travis Carroll, simply due to lack of depth at the linebacker position. I certainly look for Quincy Jackson to have a huge impact as well, due to the lack of talent at the WR position. Over four years, look for Sam Matthews to have a great career, as well as Shaun Bohannon. If what I hear about Bohannon is true, he should be spectacular. Keep up the good work.

Love the page and i am interested in finding out about a QB named Bobby Sablehaus. Was a top QB in 94 from Maryland and went to Florida and then went out west. Are we still trying to sign him or for that matter what about any QB or will that have to wait until We get an Offensive Coor. as head coach. Thanks and Roll Tide! Mike Abbott

Lithonia, GA U.S. - Friday, January 31, 1997 at 11:58:51 (CST)
This comment is in refrence to your recruiting predictions. I feel that Travis Carroll will have the biggest impact on next years team. With our glaring need for LB's and his extreme talent, the choice seems inevitable. I also feel that Tony Dixon coul d make an impact due to our need at saftey. But Travis will make the most in 97. The player to have the most impact over 4 years will be Larry Paul. I have a great felling about this guy he reminds me of as well as everyone else Chris Hood, yet I think Pa ul has better speed. He will be an absolute terror in 98. My dark horse is (and I know you did'nt ask for this) Chris Horne. Remember this kid he has George Teague written all over him.

I LOOK FORWARD EVERY NIGHT TO CHECKING OUT THE STATUS OF THE RECRUITING FOR '97. I SEND YOU MY CONGRATULATIONS ON PUTTING TOGETHER THIS PAGE AND HOPE TO SEE MORE QUALITY INFO. IN THE FUTURE. ROLL TIDE..................... P.S. I really enjoy your site! However, you did need an editor of some sort (just as I would). Sometimes it's hard to interpret your run-on and incomplete sentences. Otherwise keep up the good work. By the way, where does Walter Lewis fit in with the "Very well documented" lack of Alabama not playing a black at quarterback? If i remember correctly Bama has since recruited black quarterback but they were mostly a bust(Sutton, for example) Sorry no email adress.

In Anderson County Tennessee there is one tough player, Davey Gillum. He ran for 5,000+ yards in 3 years. He is a running back, but would make a great in any position. He has extensive experience on offense, defense, special teams. Anderson County went to the semi-finals in state playoffs. You have a great page. Roll Tide.

BAMA should also concentrate recruiting in Fla...there's a lot of football talent here. For example ; Demontray Carter is one of the best running backs to come from NW Fla since Emmitt Smith, but I don't see his name on the wish list. Have you looked at him? He has great stats this year at Pensacola High.RTR Always....Jim Harrison

Does anyone out there have two tickets to the Ole Miss game? I work weekends and that is the only weekend I have scheduled off rest of this year. I would like to take my son, Thomas, to his first Alabama game. He needs to see what college football i s really like. He doesn't like that other team on the eastern side of the state. I will be more than happy to pay a good price for them. This has to be done this year in order to keep the evil War Eagle away from my son. GREAT PAGE!!!Roll Tide Roll..Hope all goes well this year. I think we need to open the offense up more;how many plays did we have last year?12 or 15 maybe.I know if I could figure out what they were going to run,I'm sure the defensive cosch on the other team could.Auburn says they had a good re- cruiting year, and I'm sure they did. Also a lot of "War Eagle" fans out there now doing a lot of talking. That's ok,but till the day that Auburn wins 11 more National Championships,I would'nt talk too loud.Let's see when was ya'll last one???...1957...Man I was 4 years old. You'd think in 40 years ya'll could have stumpled on another one by now.Any way I like Auburn as long as they are not playing Bama.I even root for Florida when they are playing outside the SEC;and if that ain't hard,I don't know what is!! chow.............Rick

The poor fellow who harbors such resentment regarding Bama's national championships must be a victim of title envy. The polls before 1961 were as authentic as the ones we have now. Where was USA Today in the old days? Polls come and go. It's better to be ranked at the top no matter who is judging. Stop whining andd start winning. Roll Tide!

Just read on Bob Lowry's info that says ALA national championships prior to 1961 were magazine articles and not offical polls. In most places, bragging about things you haven't done is considered petty.

Nice page. For the people asking for current status of recruits check out this url: http://www.auburn.edu/~lowrygr/index.html Very comprehensive site with info on ALL Southeastern schools. Has more current info on Kenny Smith and Gormon Thornton than this site does. Please take no offense. According to them, Gormon Thornton did not qualify and has entered school at Hinds Community College in MS. Sites Tuscaloosa News as source on 8/1/96. WAR EAGLE!!!!!! Happy recruiting! How many can you give? Is it 12 or 13?

Great Page, keep up the good work. Would like to know what happened to Staten to get in trouble. I think the Tide is going to make a run at another national champioship this year. Also, how close is the battle between Kitchens and Foust for the QB job. Thanks again for such a great page. Ben
