Main Window And Sequence Of Play
- When the program starts, the main window is displayed with the first challenge presented.
- Type your answer in the answer area and click "Check It!" (or press <RETURN>).
- If your answer is correct, the score bar will rise one notch and the number correct will increase by one.
- If your answer was incorrect, the score bar will drop one notch and the number missed will increase by one.
- When the score bar reaches the top, the next correct answer will trigger a fireworks display!
- To start over with all scores zeroed out, click "Start Over"
- To select the types of problems displayed, click "Configure"
- To quit the game, click either the "Quit" button or the close button (the 'X') on the title bar of the window.
Configuration Options
- The "Ranges" section allows you to select the range of number used as operands. Values can range from 1 to 1000 (or -1000 to 1000 with the negative number options described below). Default is 12 for both values (range of 0 to 12 for both operands).
- The "Operations" section allows you to select which type of problems will be presented. Default is all four basic operations.
- If "Allow Negatives On Subtractions" is not checked, subtraction problems will always be arranged so that the answer will be greater than or equal to zero. This is useful with children who have not been exposed to negative number. Default is unchecked.
- If "Allow Negative Operands" is checked, operands will be be in the range from -maximum value to +maximum value. Otherwise, operands will be in the range 0 to +maximum value. If this option is checked, the problems become much harder. Default is unchecked.
