Tallulah
played the amorous wife of a cabinet minister in a play that again received
criticism from the press and the Bishop as being too racy. It was a
modest success, however, and a play that Tallulah's fan loved.
Tallulah's Comments:
"Upset by its plot, the Bishop of London denounced it from his
pulpit. The Lord Bishop changed a failure into a long-run success. Nothing
like a clerical blast to buck up a sagging box office!"
