Tallulah's darkest hour may indeed have been when she lost the part of Sadie Thompson ten years earlier in London, but she had now lost most of her enthusiasm for the role. The reviews were mixed, but there were enough bad ones to close the play after only 47 performances. Tallulah herself claimed that it was almost impossible to erase traces of Jeanne Eagles, who triumphed in the role in 1923.
Tallulah's Comment: "I caught up with Rev. Davidson ten years too late."
