Tallulah's Role:
Midgie Purvis
Tallulah received
a Tony nomination for her portrayal of a 50-year-old mother who, unappreciated
by her family for her childish antics, runs off and disguises herself
as an 80-year-old woman and takes on a baby-sitting job. It was a physically
demanding role and Tallulah insisted on doing the stunts herself, including
sliding down a staircase bannister. She received glowing reviews, but
the play itself suffered from numerous rewrites and failed to last beyond
a month.
