with Grace George

Tallulah received good reviews playing a young woman thinking about leaving her husband for another man. She accepted the part strictly for the money and decided not to grudge Somerset Maugham. An intense hot summer and no air conditioning was part of the reason the play closed so soon.

Tallulah's Comment: "The Circle endured until wilted by hot weather - a run of nine weeks. Who was I to jeer at a nine week run? I had cooled off Cleopatra in five performances."
