Tallulah was briefly engaged to Count Anthony de Bosdari, whom she had met in Brighton. She later called the engagement off when she discovered that de Bosdari had given her an expensive necklace that he didn't actually pay for and he was actually already married (although the marriage was not recognized in England). Tallulah knew that she was being used and wisely called off the marriage. (1928)
