PORTRAIT OF JENNIFER: A BIOGRAPHY OF JENNIFER JONES
by Edward Z Epstein. Simon & Schuster, 1995.

The first comprehensive biography to focus solely on  Jennifer, it offers various insights and tidbits about her  career and private life.  There is not much new  information, however, that has not already been  written (except for her years with Norton Simon).

SHOWMAN : THE LIFE OF DAVID O. SELZNICK by David Thomson. Knopf, 1992.

An excellent biography of Selznick written by a well respected film writer. His marriage to Jones is thoroughly documented here. This will probably be the definitive biography of Selznick.

JENNIFER JONES : A BIO-BIBLIOGRAPHY by Jeffrey L. Carrier. Greenwood Press, 1990.

The Greenwood Bio-Bibliography series are a researcher's dream and this one is no exception. Featured here are lists of books, articles, etc. written about Jennifer Jones since the beginning of her career. The book also contains a brief biography, film, theater and radio lists, awards, and obituaries for Robert Walker and David Selznick.

STAR CROSSED : THE STORY OF ROBERT WALKER AND JENNIFER JONES by Beverly Linet. G. P. Putnam's Sons, 1986.

Linet's book is well researched but focuses mainly on Robert Walker.

DAVID O. SELZNICK'S HOLLYWOOD by Ronald Haver. Knopf, 1980.

A beautiful mammoth coffee table book covers all of David Selznick's films. Lots of information here about Duel In The Sun, Since You Went Away,Portrait of Jennie, and A Farewell To Arms. This book is loaded with incredible photographs and some beautiful portraits of Jennifer, especially from Duel In The Sun.

THE FILMS OF JENNIFER JONES by W. Franklin Moshier. The Author, 1978.

A must have for the Jennifer Jones fan.  Sadly, this book  had a very limited printing (1000 copies). It features a synopsis of each of her films as well as critical reviews, a brief biographical sketch and tons of photos. Out of print, hard to find, check E-bay

LAID BACK IN HOLLYWOOD: REMEMBERING
by Patricia Medina. Belle Publishing, 1998

Patricia Medina was married to Joseph Cotten and a close friend of Jennifer Jones. This book is a memoir of her life and marriage to Cotten and has many references to Jennifer. She writes about the times she spent with the Selznicks and her wedding which was arranged by Jennifer and took place at the Selznick home. Medina also talks about how Jennifer was there when Cotten was dying of cancer and of the many things she did to help her friend.

JEAN HOWARD'S HOLLYWOOD: A PHOTO MEMOIR by Jean Howard. Abradale Press, 2001.

A Ziegfeld girl, a contract player at MGM, the wife of a movie superagent Charles Feldman, and one of Hollywood's most celebrated hostesses, Jean Howard provides a uniquely intimate look at the Hollywood she knew during the 1930s, '40s, '50s, and into the '60s. 346 duotone photos. Of particular interest here are photos from a party at Joseph Cotten's home in which Jennifer Jones led a conga line down to the pool and jumped in fully clothed.

MASTER'S WAY TO BEAUTY by George Masters. Dutton, 1977.

Fascinating "dishy" memoir by Jennifer Jones' personal hairdresser. There is a lot of personal information here especially concerning Jennifer's obsessive beauty habits.

THE WAY WE LIVED THEN: RECOLLECTIONS OF A WELL-KNOWN NAME DROPPER
by Dominick Dunne. Crown, 1999.

The celebrated writer recalls his Hollywood days as a producer and executive but the focus here are the many parties he attended and photos from his personal scrapbook. Many never before seen photos of Jennifer Jones.

MEMO FROM DAVID O. SELZNICK edited by Ruby Behlmer. Viking Press, 1972.

The famous memos of David O. Selznick are presented here. A fascinating insight into Hollywood and filmmaking.

SELZNICK by Bob Thomas. Doubleday, 1971.

A very good biography of David Selznick which provides good information about his marriage to Jennifer and his obsession with her career. Out of print.
