Based on the 1884 play Sappho, Garbo is cast as a model who is the ultimate "inspiration" for artists. Robert Montgomery plays the boy who inspires her. Unfortunately, the film itself is less than inspiring. It does not hold up well today and is rather dull. There is little chemistry between Montgomery and Garbo. The critics praised her however, including the New York Times who raved "Miss Garbo, no matter what can be said of the story, gives a stunning performance."
