Johnny
Mack Brown
Brown
was born September 1, 1904 in Dothan, Alabama. He played football
at the University of Alabama but turned down professional
football offers to go to Hollywood instead. He started his
career at MGM in 1927 and his third film was The Divine Woman.
He was very handsome and played romantic parts for several
years before appearing in B westerns. During the 1940s, he
was one of the top Western stars in Hollywood. He retired
from the screen in 1953 and went into the restaurant business
but came back to the screen in the mid 1960s in small roles.
He died in 1975.
