1964-1968 Ford Motor Company DSO Codes
Two-digit warranty plate numbers indicate District Sales Offices.  Certain DSOs began and ceased operation in the middle of model years.  Mustangs often carried a DSO code that was not officially in use until the next year.

Consecutive Unit Number
Mustangs, Falcons, and Fairlanes were assembled on the same assembly line beginning with #100001 each model year. Units were consecutively numbered regardless of model with various assembly plants receiving blocks of numbers.  Therefore occasionally you'll find a vehicle with a  relatively low consecutive unit number yet the date code indicates an assembly date far later in the model year.
