Doctor Royce Simpson

Royce Simpson

I worked at Jack's from about 1982 until 1987 - on the grill mostly but also on the “front-line” occasionally and the last couple of years as the evening manager. I worked almost exclusively evenings except for Saturdays when I would usually work days.

After Jack's I received my B.S. degree from JSU and then my PhD in Psychology from the University of Alabama. I taught for 8 years at Campbellsville University in Kentucky and I'm currently an associate professor at Spring Hill College in Mobile where I've been since 2001. I was married for 11 years to Angela Christopher (she worked at Captain D's across the street) and I also have two of the smartest and most beautiful kids in the world (Madeline and Benjamin).

My memories of Jack's are too numerous to mention. Well ok just a few... I remember a particular Friday “BOGO” night when I literally did nothing but bag fries for hours, hamburger wrapping contests (only Johnny Taylor could beat me), Bruce Dunston driving me to the emergency room after I burned my arm, eating pounds of shake mix after closing time... ah those were the days. But actually what I remember the most were the wonderful friendships that I made. Sharon Rollins and Greg Tucker who are still at Jack's were two of the best but also Sarita, Chris, Tammy, Tommy, Felix (“Fifi”) and the list goes on and on. I will always be thankful to Mr. Reaves and everyone at Jack's who gave me an opportunity to work and to form so many wonderful memories.
