OFFICIAL POEM
By: C.J. Magro with a special thanks to Peter Griffin for his review and suggestions.

Born in the 30’s, times of hardship and strife,
Money so tight, hard work, the way of life…
Can you remember, a song of that time?
“Hey, Brother Can You Spare A Dime?”

Raised in the 40’s, with warriors so brave,
Watching them fight, our country to save…
To become their equal, would be the mark of a man,
In the army, one day, he too, would make his stand…

In the 50’s, coming out of the gate,
Great combat jumps, some did make…
But for some, their time, too late,
Jumping into combat, be not their fate…

In the 60’s, combat, once again, did come,
The ultimate test, once more, for some…
But now, something dreadfully wrong,
Many agreeing with the protestors’ song…

For glory in combat, he lost his taste,
Too many young lives, had gone to waste…
For the fighting men, there be no shame,
Political leaders, twas their blame…

In the 70’s, his priorities, be not the same,
Now married, PROVIDING, the name of this game…
Now a family, to raise and bear his name,
For them he must produce, he’d bear no shame..!

Throughout the 80’s he watched them grow,
Mighty proud, he be, don’t you know..!
Beautiful grandchildren, now, he had,
Cute and cuddly, returning love, to this Proud Dad..!

In the 90’s, an old album found, what could it be?
Inside, a young Paratrooper, he did see..!
In amazement, at a picture he did stare,
A smiling young face, willing to take any dare..!

Obviously, this, he could not waste,
An AIRBORNE website, he would create!!!
It would be colorful, patriotic, just plain nifty,
Saluting those brave young soldiers,
the PARATROOPERS OF THE 50’S..!
