Let me just say that after the Army, I went on to be a police officer with the LAPD and I owe my life ( many times over ) to the fact that I am a paratrooper. Naturally any assistance will be duly acknowledge in my work. If you are able to help please contact me on my e-mail:c-shilleto@ucrysj.ac.uk or write enclosing any information to:....Mr CARL SHILLETO, MILITARY HISTORIAN, C/O 46 ALBION AVENUE, ACOMB, YORK...YO26 5QY...ENGLAND..... I also served a tour with E Troop 17th Cav. 173rd Airborne Brigade from 5/69 - 01/70.I have been in contact with fellow "Currahees" but would like to hear from anyone who remembers me from "The Herd" especially Dave Baron. We guarded bridges outside of LZ English and conducted ambushes and recon patrols. My squad which was led by Dave Baron nicked name ourselves "The Suicide Squad" because our gung ho LT. voluntered us to go on 4 or 5 day recon missions even though none of us had LRRP training. We got caught out in the open one time and the LT. wouldn't call in a chopper to extract us.Any of this sound familiar to anyone?
