They were the parents of fourteen children: Viola, Nellie, Alex, Henrietta, Dan, Luther, Gracie, Lucy, Georgia, Lorine, Robert, Alma and Velma (twins), and Earnie. Earnest had three additional children: John Ed, Roy, and Matilda.  Viola Ragland married Charlie Nance and they had four children: Felix, John Luther, Carrie Mae, and J.B.  Nellie had four children: Georgia, Otho, Lucy and Oscar.  Alex Ragland married Lizzie Pope. They had three children and three step-children: Leonard, Fearn, and Inez Ragland; Mable, Eddie, and Ross Leatherwood.  Henrietta married John Lockhart. She had two children: Marie and Donnell.  Luther married Rosie Vance. They had one child, Elvira.  Gracie Ragland married Add Jordan. They had eight children: Milton, Joe Louis, Sovay, Earl and Earlene (twins), Add Jr., Eunice and Christine. Lucy Ragland married Robert Vaughn and they had five children: James, Thelma, Peter, Alex, and Viarine (Peggy).  Lorine Ragland married Hayward Crutcher and they had six children: Ernest Lee, Hayward Jr., Mary Ann, Alma, Hazel, and Carl.  Robert Ragland married Robbie Lee Moore. They had three children: Dorothy Jean, Tyrone, and Patricia.  Alma Ragland married Dement Townsend and they had one child, Josephine.  Velma Ragland married James Love. They had eight children: Edna, Theodore, Dorothy, Walter, Eddie, Jacqueline, Linda Fay, and Delora.  Earnie died when he was twenty-five. Dan and Georgia died as children, seven and two-years old, respectively.  John Ed married Lucille Vaughn.  Matilda married Avan Knowles. Matilda had two children: John and Geneva.  Roy married Liz and they had four children: Roxie, Ann, Jean and Roy Jr.  The above text is reproduced, in part, from the Annual Ragland & Sales Family Reunion handout. 	Earlier Family History  Earnest Ragland's father, Alexander Ragland, married  Idella Annie Nance on May 10, 1866.  They had five children: Matilda, Betty Lou, Dan, Ben, and Earnest who was born October 6, 1873. Earnest's wife, Carrie Sales, was born in March 1884. Her father was Henry Sales and her mother's name was Viola Leslie Locket.  They were married February 9, 1871. Henry and Viola had 11 children: Carrie (Ma), Henrietta, Liza, Mae Ellen, Fannie, Lucy, Bud, Shack, Jack, Charles, and Manuel (Juke). Alexander Ragland's father, Peter Ragland was born in 1832 in Middle Tennessee.  He and his wife Mary had three children: Morgan, Alex, and Milton.  Peter's father, Benjamin was born in 1807 in Middle Tennessee.  Peter's mother's name was Agnes.  Some of he above information which was taken from the Freedmen's bureau Online, Family Search, and local records compiled by Dorothy Wilson.  We're still digging  for more information, so check back for updates.
