Guntersville Lake starts near the intersection of the borders of GA, TN, and AL and continues to a point about 10-15 miles east of Huntsville.

To better understand the entire TN Valley watershed:

ESPN has interactive contour maps for many lakes, including Guntersville:

USACE has navigational charts at:

If you are planning to move to the area, you will want some topographic maps when inquiring about local property. These are LARGE files (8 MB +) with 10-20 foot contours so high-speed internet recommended. Also hard to print in detail unless you are good with graphics.

“Alabama Gazetteer” can be purchased online (Barnes & Noble, Amazon, etc.) for $20 that has 120 foot contour maps of entire state. Only $10 at Athens Flea Market in far west building (tip for the locals).
