Steve, You're fishing in classic carp and buffalo water, also when I fish around barges, I use a large industrial magnet with a rope to my boat. I place the magnet on the side of the barge and let out rope depending on where I want to fish...keeps my fish from getting tangled in my anchor line. Catfish love live bait, fish where there is constant light on the water in the fifteen to twenty foot deep area if you can also keep you bait about 4 feet deep....use large bluegill or crappie for bait...hook under the dorsal fin, careful not to hit bone, you want to keep your bait healthy. When a lunker spots your bait and checks it out your bait will start moving fast, be patient and let out line, till you see the bobber go "plunk" and disappear...count to three and set the hook...BOOM...now your fishin !!
